TV's Simon Cowell named in friend's divorce papers

A spouse's adultery, once found out, can lead to arguments, resentment, and even divorce. Well known X Factor celebrity judge Simon Cowell has recently been accused of adultery in his friend Andrew Silverman's divorce from spouse Lauren Silverman. Cowell is expecting a baby with her as well.

According to reports, sources said that the Silverman's were unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce was in the works for a while. As their marriage broke down, Cowell became close with Mrs. Silverman.

While celebrities may have more assets and fame than the large majority of people going through a divorce, they file the same papers, go to the same court houses, and deal with the same issues. Minnesota, like all other states, follows no-fault divorce laws, meaning that cheating and non-cheating spouses are treated equally.

Mr. Silverman has listed adultery in his divorce papers, which were filed in New York, according to reports. He also seeks sole custody of the couple's 7-year-old son. Even if another spouse displayed some form of marital transgression such as infidelity, this is irrelevant to the divorce process. However, when it comes to deciding about child custody, the court may look into marital misconduct, such as adultery, to help figure out who should get custody of the kids. The court may use bad behavior against them to grant the other spouse custody of the children.

Divorce is never easy for either spouse, but when you combine a divorce with property disputes, spousal support and other factors, sometimes the entire process can become overwhelming. It is prudent for any person facing divorce to find an attorney experienced in and who fully understands and will address the difficult issues that arise. Minnesota divorce attorneys will be able to guide you toward a satisfactory resolution to this personal and legal matter.
